St. Xavier/ St.Michael’s clash for the 14th Father CLEARY – Father COX final Cricket Match, MATCH TIE !!!

New DelhiSt. Michaels High School is a school in Patna ,Bihar,India. Regarded as one of the top schools of Patna, St. Michaels was established in 1858 by the Congregation of Irish Christian Brothers, and is one of the oldest missionary schools in East India. It is situated on the banks of the river Ganges.

St. Xavier’s High School is a Christian Minority institution established and administered by the Jesuits (Members of the Society of Jesus). It was started in the year 1940. It is situated in the heart of Patna near Gandhi maidan Patna .


Cricket match played between different countries are very well known .

Cricket match is very famous amongst the youth and its not possible for everyone to play in the Indian team. This Father Cleary –Father Cox trophy match is a unusual and very prestigious in its own way. This match is played between the alumni of St.Michael school Patna and St Xavier school Patna of different batches irrespective of their ages.

This St Xavier’s & St Michael’s school alumni cricket match started from 2004. The brain child of this kind of special alumni tournament is DCP SHARAT SINHA (IPS CADRE Delhi police). In this tournament one match is played every month on sunday from the month of October to march in different ground of Delhi. Final match is held in the month of march at the ground of IIT Delhi.

Two prominent Patna Schools’ Alumni, St Xavier’s & St Michael’s clashed this weekend for the 14th Father Clear – Father Cox final Cricket Match played at IIT, Delhi Cricket Ground on 5th March-2017 (Sunday)

Overall there have been numerous encounters between them since 2004-05. Two day-night matches were also organized.

Thus, cricket has become an important means of bonding between the alumni members of both the schools while also promoting the spirit of sports & brotherhood. Winning the toss, the St. Michael’s team decided to bat first and invited the Xaverians to field in the 14th Father Clear – Father Cox Final Cricket Match between St Xavier’s & St Michael’s Patna alumni. The bowling of the St xavier’s team was fairly good .

The match was of 28 overs. Michalite scored 259 runs in total. Opening was done by Sharat Sinha and he scored 86 runs. He scored maximum runs for his team. Sumit Prakash taken maximum wicket and was awarded as the best bowler. At the end of the day match was very interesting and ended with the nail biting thrilling TIE between the two legendry alumni team.

Best bowler – Sumit Prakash(St.Michael)

Best fielder –Tabish Quadri (St.Michael)

Best overall performer – kushagra Kumar.

The award ceremony was culminated with much enthusiasm and senior alumni members of very old batch like 1948,1970,gave prizes to special performers
The reunion ended with golden words by very senior alumni of both the prestigious school with a vow to hold the spirit of game & continue to promote brotherhood through sports.
